Darren Clarke is the third Audemars Piguet ambassador to win a golf Grand Slam tournament in the last 14 months, following in the footsteps of Rory Mcllroy (US Open 2011) and Graeme McDowell (US Open 2010). On Sunday July 17th, he claimed victory in the British Open, his maiden Major win.

Amid tough weather conditions on the Royal St Georges course running along the Kentish coastline, the 42 year-old Northern Irishman finished three strokes ahead of Americans Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson. Carding four superbly regular rounds of 68, 68, 69 and 70, he kept a firm grip on this Major by taking the lead on Friday and never relinquishing it thereafter. On his wrist was an incredibly light Royal Oak prototype in titanium. “I’ve waited a long time for this victory and I’d be lying if I said I always believed I could make it”, he admitted. “But everything went like a dream this week. I felt instantly at ease on arriving here and I can’t remember having struck the ball so well, from tee to green.”

An Audemars Piguet ambassador for the past six years, Darren Clarke had won 14 tournaments to date on the Europen circuit, the last coming in Majorca last May. A four-time Ryder Cup winner (1997, 2002, 2004 and 2006), he experienced the finest moment of his career to date this week at his 20th attempt in the British Major. This victory brings him right back among the international golfing elite by propelling him to 30th in the world.

The players composing the international Audemars Piguet Golf Team are Lee Westwood, Rory McIlroy, Ian Poulter, Miguel Angel Jiménez, Vijay Singh, Anthony Kim, Graeme McDowell and Darren Clarke. All are particularly keen devotees of Haute Horlogerie and proudly wear Royal Oak and Royal Oak Offshore watches. These collections embody a perfect combination of elegance, excellence and strength, qualities that Audemars Piguet particularly appreciates in its sports ambassadors.

AUDEMARS PIGUET CELEBRATES BROADWAY’S BIGGEST NIGHT AT THE 2011 TONY AWARDS

World-renowned watch company sponsors the official red carpet & backstage Green Room as well as hosts an charity clock auction to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS

The 65th Annual Tony Awards were held last night and for the third consecutive year Audemars Piguet was proud to act as the presenting sponsor of the Tony Awards Red Carpet. The company further reinforced its commitment to Broadway’s biggest night with an additional sponsorship of the backstage Green Room and Gifting Suite as well as hosting an innovative online charity clock auction to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Audemars Piguet timepieces were worn by Catch Me If You Can’s Aaron Tveit and Memphis’ Montego Glover. Mr. Tveit wore the white gold and diamond Royal Oak Tuxedo with matching cufflinks while Ms. Glover wore the elegant stainless steel Ladies’ Millenary.

Remarked Francois-Henry Bennahmias, CEO & President of Audemars Piguet (North America) Inc: “The relationship with the Tony Awards continues to flourish and I am personally excited to see the Broadway community embrace us. I consider them a part of the Audemars Piguet family.”

Audemars Piguet is the title sponsor of the first ever eco-friendly Green Room and Gift Lounge for the awards show, through a partnership with Patagonia Sur. Together, the two companies are offsetting the carbon footprint for this innovative “Green Room” and the carbon emissions of the airplane flights of each of the awards presenters and nominees at the Tony Awards. Patagonia Sur will offset the footprint by planting trees within its 400-acre native-species Reforestation & Biodiversity Project. These new plantings will add one-half acre to the existing 14-acre Audemars Piguet Forest in the Patagonia region of Chile.

The room’s furnishings, provided by FENDI CASA through its sponsorship, will be the luxe setting for talent to relax and prepare before taking the stage at the Beacon Theatre. FENDI CASA is the home design collection for the international luxury brand, FENDI. In keeping with the spirit of its Ready to Wear, fur and luxury leather goods, FENDI’s home collection is true Italian luxury with collections ranging from contemporary, modern, and classic. Furnishings are characterized with incredible manufactured and fashion details, which include the recognized double ‘F’ logo and the unique Spy Bag fastener.

Additionally, guests to the gift lounge will receive: a FENDI CASA gift and gift cards to the FENDI CASA Store; a week-long luxury stay at the Patagonia Sur Reserve in Chile, along with carbon offsets purchased in the name of each celebrity and a tree planting kit; a two-night stay and complete spa package from The Lodge at Woodloch; a bottle of premium Avión Tequila; Armani/Dolci pralines, tea and shortbread biscuits; Judith Ripka gift cards; the Ultimate Treatment Collection by Ouidad; Jurlique’s multi-tasking facial serum Limited Edition Herbal Recovery Gel and a facial treatment at the Jurlique flagship store in New York City; GO SMiLE teeth whitening system; a tote-bag by Sentient Jet; and luxury car service by Empire CLS.

Celebrity guests visiting the Green Room and Gifting Suite were: Al Pacino, Alec Baldwin, Robin Williams, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Daniel Radcliffe, Whoopi Goldberg, Hugh Jackman, Kelsey Grammer, Chris Rock, Stephen Colbert, Harry Connick, Jr., Viola Davis, Martha Wash, Martha Plimpton, John Leguizamo, Don Cheadle, Tyne Daly, Christie Brinkley, Samuel L. Jackson, Matthew Broderick, Patrick Wilson, Aaron Tveit, Brooke Shields, Bobby Cannavale, Marg Helgenberger, Jim Parsons, James Earl Jones, Paul Shaffer, Robert Morse, and Joel Grey to name but a few.

Adding another level of excitement to the evening was a giveaway of Audemars Piguet timepieces. Award show presenters, performers and nominees were given a key and the chance to unlock a case with the watches inside. The two lucky winners were Hugh Jackman (men’s rose gold Jules Audemars Chronograph) and Christie Brinkley (rose gold Ladies’ Royal Oak).

Audemars Piguet has teamed up with Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS to create a unique auction off Audemars Piguet wall clocks. The seven one-of-a-kind aluminum wall clocks were displayed along the red carpet and were decorated by the nominees for Best Musical and Best Musical Revival (Catch Me If You Can, Sister Act, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Anything Goes, The Book of Mormon, and The Scottsboro Boys), to represent each one of this season’s musicals. A seventh clock was signed by nominated actors attending last month’s Meet the Nominees reception. The clocks are now on display in the windows of the Audemars Piguet flagship boutique at 40 East 57th Street in Manhattan with the auction open from June 10thth – June 28th on leading charity auction site www.charitybuzz.com.

“Charitybuzz is thrilled to help Audemars Piguet in its commitment to raise funds for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS by auctioning these beautiful clocks. We embrace the tremendous efforts of both organizations to truly do good,” said Coppy Holzman, CEO and co-founder of charitybuzz.

The 65th Annual Tony Awards was broadcast live from the Beacon Theatre on Sunday, June 12th (8pm ET) on CBS. The Tony Awards are presented by the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League.

RORY MCILROY, AUDEMARS PIGUET AMBASSADOR, WON HIS FIRST CAREER MAJOR AT THE US OPEN

Audemars Piguet golf ambassador, Rory McIlroy won the U.S. Open on Sunday, June 19th with the lowest score in the tournament’s 111-year history, taking the title by eight strokes to become the youngest winner, at 22 years old, of the golf season’s second major championship in 88 years.

McIlroy led from the start at the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. He shot a 6-under par 65 for a three-shot advantage in the first round, followed with rounds of 66 and 68, before shooting a 2- under-par 69 in Sunday’s final round, to finish 16-under par, the tournament’s lowest winning score in relation to par. His 8-shots margin of victory was the fourth-largest at the U.S. Open.

“The whole week has been incredible,” McIlroy said at the trophy presentation. “I couldn’t wish for much more. I’m so happy to be holding this trophy.”

McIlroy is the youngest U.S. Open champion since Bobby Jones in 1923 and his victory comes two months after he blew a four-stroke lead in the final round of the Masters Tournament. “Augusta was a very valuable experience for me,” said McIlroy, the youngest major winner since Woods at the 1997 Masters. “I learned a few things about myself and my game.” McIlroy previously had three third-place finishes in major championships, at the 2009 and 2010 PGA Championships and the 2010 British Open.

This victory represents a substantial step for a player considered by many in the game to be at the forefront of the next generation of stars. The common assumption is that this major title is the first of many for Rory McIlroy, who climbs in the Official World Rankings to World Number 4.

Amongst the other Audemars Piguet ambassadors, Lee Westwood of England, tied for 3rd place at 6- under on Sunday, and last year’s winner Graeme McDowell, McIlroy’s compatriot from Northern Ireland, tied for 14th place. The last time two non-Americans from the same country captured the U.S. Open in consecutive years was in 1920-21.

LEO MESSI CONFIRMS HIS STATUS AS THE WORLD’S GREATEST FOOTBALL PLAYER

Audemars Piguet

Audemars Piguet ambassador Leo Messi expressed the full force of his formidable talent in the Champions League final on Saturday May 28th 2011. The UEFA quite logically named him Man of the Match, given the spectacular display provided by the Argentinean champion who shone like a supernova among the 22 stars that sparkled on London’s Wembley pitch.

Despite a steady run of successes, Leo Messi admitted after the Champions League final against Manchester United (3-1) to being truly impressed by what his FC Barcelona team has achieved, exclaiming that: “this is a match that will be long remembered! This team is doing some extraordinary things and we haven’t yet fully grasped what we have accomplished. We want to continue winning titles”.

Having scored the second goal for FC Barcelona and set up the third, the man who has notched up 53 goals for his club during this season in various competitions definitely gave a performance worthy of the event – exactly as one would expect from a sports icon. He tortured the Manchester United defence with his technical mastery and breathtaking moves. In scoring his 12th Champions League goal for the 2010/2011 season, he equalled the record held since 2003 by Ruud Van Nistelroy.

At just 23 years old, the two-time Golden Ball winner continues to earn titles and individual distinctions with disarming ease and shows no signs of resting on his laurels. He is now aiming for victory with Argentina’s national team in the Copa America which is being held in his homeland.

Brand Ambassador Leo Messi is a particularly keen devotee of haute horlogerie and proudly wears Royal Oak and Royal Oak Offshore watches. These collections embody a perfect combination of elegance, excellence and strength, qualities that Audemars Piguet particularly appreciates in its sports ambassadors.
