Frank Sinatra's Gold Pasha de Cartier

Watch Gifted To Sammy Davis Jr.

Sinatra was born in Hoboken, New Jersey, the only child of Italian immigrants Natalie Della (née Garaventa) and Anthony Martin Sinatra. He left high school without graduating, having attended only 47 days before being expelled due to his rowdy conduct. His mother, known as Dolly, was influential in the neighborhood and in local Democratic Party circles, but also ran an illegal abortion business from her home; she was arrested several times and convicted twice for this offense. Frank, himself, was arrested for carrying on with a married woman, an illegal offense at the time. Frank's father Tony served with the Hoboken Fire Department. During the tough years of the 1930s, when the Great Depression hit North America very hard, Dolly nevertheless provided ready pocket money to her son Frank, the family's only child, for outings with friends and fancy clothes. Frank then worked for some time as a delivery boy at the Jersey Observer newspaper, and as a riveter at the Tietjan and Lang shipyard. It was in the early 1930s that Sinatra began singing in public

Sinatra had three children; Nancy, Frank Jr. and Tina by his first wife Nancy Barbato (married 1939-1951). He was married three more times, to the actresses Ava Gardner (married 1951-1957) and Mia Farrow (married 1966-1968) and finally to Barbara Marx (married 1976), to whom he was still married at his death.

Throughout his life, Sinatra had mood swings and bouts of depression, symptoms of bipolar disorder, formerly known as manic depression. He himself acknowledged this fact, telling an interviewer in the 1950s: "Being an 18-karat manic-depressive, and having lived a life of violent emotional contradictions, I have an over-acute capacity for sadness as well as emotion." In her memoirs My Father's Daughter, his daughter Tina wrote about the "eighteen-karat" remark: "As flippant as Dad could be about his mental state, I believe that a Zoloft a day might have kept his demons away. But that kind of medicine was decades off."

Included in one of Antiquorum’s watch auctions, the Cartier Pasha watch model that was a gift from Frank Sinatra to other fellow Rat Packer Sammy Davis Jr. Still bearing the engraving by Sinatra that reads, "Sammy, I Luv Ya, F.A.S." A highly collectible item for Cartier fans: 18k gold Pasha watch printed with its manufacture date of 1987. It features a quartz movement. The watch complications include the time, date with day, moon phase and second time zone. The watch is estimated $10,000 - $20,000.

Breitling for Bentley

Bentley GT and Bentle GT Racing

GT, Grand Tourer. These two initials stand for the exceptional breed of sports cars of which Bentley continues to build the finest and most powerful models, such as the Continental GT. The Bentley GT chronograph was fired by the same spirit of performance and exclusivity, starting with the size, which is more compact than the other models in the collection. The dials of the Bentley GT are adorned with chromed counter rings and the distinctive Bentley “diamond quilt” motif applied to the upholstery of its sportiest models. On the engine side, the Bentley GT is equipped with a high-performance movement, chronometer-certified Breitling Calibre 13B with day/date calendar. In terms of instrumentation, it is equipped like all Breitling for Bentley chronographs with a variable tachometer. Used in conjunction with the chronograph, this exclusive system makes it possible to measure average speed, whatever the time elapsed, the distance covered or the speed reached.

Giving a nod in the direction of motor sports, Breitling reinterprets its Bentley GT chronograph in an even more sophisticated version called “Bentley GT Racing”. While the case retains the more compact size that distinguishes it from the other models in the Breitling for Bentley collection, it features distinctive finishing alternating surfaces that are fine-brushed on top and polished on the side. This subtle contrast is picked up on the Speed bracelet. A medallion on the caseback displays the silhouette of the Bentley Continental GT, the most powerful of all cars produced by the prestigious British manufacturer. As on the GT version, the dial is adorned with the “diamond-quilt” motif characteristic of the upholstery on the sportiest Bentley models.

Technical data :

Movement: Breitling Calibre 13B, officially chronometer-certified by the COSC, selfwinding, high-frequency (28,800 vibrations per hour), 25 jewels. 1/4th of a second chronograph, 30-minute and 12-hour totalizers. Day and date calendar. Case: steel. Water-resistant to 100 metres. Screw-locked crown. Rotating pinion bezel with variable tachometer (circular slide rule). Cambered sapphire crystal, glareproofed on both sides. Diameter: 44.80 mm. Dials: Royal Ebony, Storm Grey, Silver Storm, Burnt Oak. Strap/bracelet: Barenia leather, crocodile leather, rubber/Speed.
