THE CONTINUED CONSERVATION OF SINGAPORE’S CULTURAL HERITAGE.

In line with Breguet’s on going campaign in preserving European history and cultural heritage, Breguet is proud to be a sponsor to the inaugural Monumental Ball. Organized by The Preservations of Monuments Board, the Monumental Ball is a fundraising gala to raise awareness about Singapore’s National Monuments and to preserve Singapore’s historical and cultural heritage.

Held on 29th April 2011 at the St. Regis Singapore, the theme for the Monumental Ball is Lady Astor’s Party, which invites societal support for good causes just like the charitable dinner parties the eminent Astor family was known to throw. Graced by Their Excellencies President S.R. Nathan and Mrs Nathan as Guests-of-Honour, a musical tribute to French singer and cultural icon Edith Piaf was performed by local talents Hossan Leong and Robin Goh, together with popular songs from the 1940s, taking guests a walk down memory lane.

An institution of the National Heritage Board, the PMB has safeguarded and preserved vital historical landmarks with strong cultural links to Singapore’s past by gazetting 63 National Monuments representing the multi-faceted character of Singapore’s history and heritage.

Running parallel with Breguet’s mission to preserve French and European culture for future generations, Breguet’s participation in the Monumental Ball is a resounding agreement with PMB’s goal to foster an environment of cultural philanthropy and to inculcate a sense of ownership and pride in Singapore’s National Monuments amongst Singaporeans. In this manner, Breguet is pursuing its policy of support to preserve history and culture in line with the message conveyed by the late CEO of Breguet, Nicolas G. Hayek: “Preserving world cultural heritage is an investment for all of us, for our children and our grandchildren. It is our duty to do so, as much for the future as for the past”.
