An all time record set in the round world trip

Sponsored by the House of Corum, the maxi Banque Populaire V completed its round the world trip in record time, winning the Jules Verne Trophy, the prize for the fastest circumnavigation of the world by any type of yacht with no restrictions on the size of the crew.

The Maxi Banque Populaire V, sponsored by Corum, has entered the record books by taking the Jules Verne Trophy after 45 days 13 hours 42 minutes and 53 seconds at sea. Skipper Loïck Peyron and his crew have just covered the 29,002 miles of round-the-world sailing at an average speed of 26.51 knots.

In its role as official timekeeper, Corum offered each team member a dedicated watch in the shape of an Admiral’s Cup Seafender 48 Chrono Centro, personalised with their names. The model bears the inscription “2011 Trophée Jules Verne” on its dial, while the back of the piece is engraved with the outline of the route.

After a month of racing against the clock, the crew rounded Cape Horn on 23 December and sprinted back towards the equator and the northern hemisphere, sailing to the west of Azores before crossing the finish line at 23 :14.53 local time.

NFL Quarterback Dan Marino and Corum

Celebrities and Watches

NFL Hall of Fame Quarterback Dan Marino is the new star spotted wearing the 2011 Limited Edition Corum 48mm Seadefender Deep Dive watch from Levinson Jewelers in Ft. Lauderdale.

Dan Marino is a former American football quarterback star who played for the Miami Dolphins in the NFL. Marino became one of the most prolific quarterbacks in league history, holding or having held almost every major NFL passing record. And Dan’s new brand of choice is Corum.

The Corum 48 mm Seafender Deep Dive watch has a great rugged and sporty look, a high precision movement that is certified in Switzerland independently, and with its unique orange markers and hands is a true attention grabber. The unique thing about the orange is that in dark conditions, it actually glows green.

Corum has a long history of making very high-end complicated watches but what is so special about Corum is that they have very, very limited distribution. Dan was able to secure a special no. 13 from this limited production.

Corum’s Energy Team Leading at America’s Cup World Series

French team qualifying for the semifinals

Corum

A great weekend for the Corum sponsored French Team. The Energy Team AC45 skippered by Yann Guichard achieved an excellent result and confirmed its ability by grabbing first place in the overall rankings in the San Diego Match Racing Championship after the three fleet races that took place over the weekend.

Third in the first race, fifth in the second and winner of the third, the French challenger finished ahead of Emirates Team New Zealand and Oracle Racing Spithill. The French were certainly happy as they qualify automatically for the semi-finals, which are due to take place at the end of November in the California Bay.

The hectic and energetic racing day was followed by an intimate dinner at the prestigious Andaz Hotel where guests of Tourneau, the largest watch retailer in the world, were introduced to the Corum collection and the long standing connection between the brand and the sailing world. Energy Team members chose to celebrate the day's victory by joining Corum for the evening. The guests enjoyed the fine dining while listening to a presentation about the brand, its history, collection and today's positioning.

With the French tean now leading the San Diego Match Racing Championship, Corum and the Energy Team will be looking forward to the semi-finals of the America’s Cup to take place soon in the California Bay.
