The Piaget Haute Horlogerie Manufacture has written some of the finest pages in the history of ultra-thin movements. For 50 years, its excellence and developed ultra-thin calibres have illustrated Piaget's incredible capacity for innovation. Piaget is nowadays at the very pinnacle of the art of fine watchmaking.
And with the launch of the 9P and 12P movements in 1957 and 1960 respectively, it quickly became a master of ultra-thin movements.
Creating the world's thinnest automatic watch and movement required all the skills that Piaget has to offer, involving everyone from the designers to the engineers.
An ultra-thin ideology is at the heart of Piaget's culture and history. Since the '50s, the legendary 9P and 12P movements have inspired a range of calibres as thin as they are efficient. The latest 1200P and 1208P movements have set new records today, majestically highlighting the refined aesthetics of the Piaget Altiplano collection of ultra-thin timepieces.
Developing the ultra-thin concept provided Piaget with the opportunity of expressing two main features of its personality: the utmost discretion shown since its beginnings and the lavish extravagance that burst forth in the early 1960s.
In 1957 the brand was advocating great elegance and sobriety of style, a principle to which it has remained faithful ever since. 50 years on, the design of high-tech objects which are now part of our everyday life has proven Piaget right. The ultra-thin watch has always featured in Piagets collections as an embodiment of the brands distinguishing characteristics and its unique expertise.
Watches are housed in gold cases, or double cases to provide a dual time-zone display. The movement itself is revealed through exquisitely decorated, skeletonised and magnified dials.
Diamonds could not fail to be included in this sparkling display of creativity. They light up watch cases and bracelets, or outline celebrity fingerprints on the dial of the Altiplano watch offering a precious, timeless memento of a charitable gesture by Laetitia Casta, Vanessa Paradis, Liz Hurley and HRH, Prince Albert II of Monaco. At Piaget, the history of ultra-thin watchmaking is also a story of great generosity.

Watch G0A35130
Ultra-thin, self-winding, white gold
Timeless purity and classicism converge in this ultra-thin white-gold timepiece, which pays homage to the elegance and refinement characteristic of Piaget. In a resolutely minimalistic spirit reflected by the highly contemporary dimensions of the Altiplano, Piaget continues to push back the limits of micromechanics by achieving two new records in the field of ultra-thin watches: thanks to its micro-rotor principle, that of the thinnest self-winding mechanical movement on the market measuring just 2.35 mm thick; and that of the thinnest watch in its category, with a thickness of 5.25 mm. The silver-coloured dial, arranged on three levels, is also highly refined with its small-seconds display at 4 o'clock. A truly modern classic that is both sober and elegant.

The exquisite emotion flow in film, along with the glamorous sparks in jewelry, are about to work their magic together on the red carpet of the 68th Venice Film Festival.
Swiss Luxury Watchmaker and Jeweler Piaget walked the eminent actress Vivian Hsu on the red carpet of the Venice Film Festival on September 1st. Miss Vivian Hsu is the leading actress of the epic feature "Seediq Bale" directed by elite director WEI Te-Sheng. Based on the history of the Wushe Incident, an uprising that was led by Mona Rudao of the aboriginal Sediq tribe against Japanese military forces during the period of colonization, this epic feature is the first Taiwanese film nominated in the Golden Lion award at this year's Venice Film Festival.
In order to sweep every staring eye with Vivian Hsu's superior charm and glamour, just like every eye-catching and extraordinary image captured in films that moves audiences deep from their hearts, Piaget sets off her sophisticated beauty with its spellbinding fully-paved tonneau high jewelry watch, a pair of Magic Garden diamond earrings and a Limelight high jewelry diamond ring in the international press conference held early in the afternoon, and ingeniously switched her watch into a Piaget Limelight Paradise cuff watch to amplify her daring yet elegant aura, just like the role she plays in the film. The fish-scaled diamond pattern extended out from the square diamond-paved case of the Limelight Paradise cuff watch emerged slimness and grace through its lithe skeleton outline, and further echoed to the elegance of the python prints of Vivian Hsu’s long gown, which accentuated the wildness and ebullience of the aboriginal spirit convey in the film Seediq Bale. Possessing natural grace and organic life-force, the Magic Garden of Piaget diamond earrings in water drop motif and the domed diamond ring, each respectively made statements to liberty and fortitude. The true Seedig spirit was brought to live with Vivian Hsu’s postures and the details of her look.
The perfect alliance between Vivian Hsu and Piaget is making a persuasive canvass.
