Rolex Air King Ref. 5500
Probable period of production: 1960-1983.
This Rolex Air King collection of watches was presented in the show watch fair at Basel of 1957. This unique watch was launched together with other models of the same line similar to this one, the Air King was born of a variation of the Explorer, these are Standard Oyster Perpetual in Steel, Two Tone, or Gold with non explorer dials featuring Gold markers and hands. This Rolex Air King Ref. 5500 has signed on the dial Air King Precision and also maintains the original �Oyster� characteristics such us screw-down crown and caseback perfectly sealed to reach a real waterproofness. The name �Perpetual� comes from the self-winding movement. These Rolex Mens watches were the company's major successes, being worn by many men around the world. The Rolex Mens Oyster Perpetual watches are the most well-known classic Swiss made watches and they have become a symbol of the Rolex tradition.
