Our Only Watch choice of the day: TAG Heuer Monaco Mikrograph

There’s one lucky bidder somewhere in the world with this one-of-a-kind exclusive watch on his (or her) collection, and we are happy it was all for a good cause. So let’s check out the watch and its particularities.

This timepiece uses TAG Heuer’s in-house Mikrograph 1/100th movement in a special Monaco case and dial. This new case is more rounded that the re-edition-style case, losing some of the sharper edges. The other major change is the new pusher design, which sit much squarer on the case than the angled pushers of the Calibre 12 Monaco.

At the back of the watch is a Sapphire caseback to show off the movement, the highlight being the dual assortments- one powering the watch, and the other the Chronograph. We can also cal to attention the leather strap, as opposed to the usual alligator one, and a much bigger case, going from 39 mm to 43mm, and yet with a slimmer case than the Monaco 24.

And to finalise the package design, this incredible timepiece is presented in a box designed by south African artist Paul do Toit.

TAG Heuer mikrograph 1916

This timepiece revolutionized the capture of time. In 1916 Charles-Auguste Heuer launched the Mikrograph stopwatch. By inventing its mechanism, which pulsated at 360,000 beats per hour, he gave Mankind the ability to measure 100ths of seconds for the first time. The first Mikrograph revolutionized sports timekeeping, and took its rightful place in history as official stopwatch for the Olympics.

With the Carrera Mikrograph 1/100th and the Mikrotimer Flying 1000, 2011 is the year TAG Heuer is once again entering the territory of genius.
