Breitling Models and John Travolta

Aeromarine Series - Chrono Avenger

breitling chrono avenger and john travolta

John Travolta is wearing a Breitling Chrono Avenger watch which, incidentally, the same watch model worn by Leonardo di Caprio in Blood Diamond.

Description
The Chrono Avenger is the result of extensive research aimed at improving the essential features of Breitling wrist instruments, both for civilian or military use. This heavy duty chronograph incorporates major technical and aesthetic innovations. Its sturdy construction is a reminder that Chrono avenger is designed for intensive use.

The dial of the Chrono Avenger was changed during it's production. Later examples of the Chrono Avenger have the concentric circular patterning on the subdials, while earlier ones did not. The later models also have the painted date wheel with the darker font where as the earlier ones are printed and appear lighter. The shape of the number "8" as well is different on the two models.

Breitling Navitimer 1952 Special Edition

Breitling's 50th Anniversary

Caliber: Breitling 41 // Vibrations per hour: 28.800 // Jewels:  38

In its fifty years of existence, the Navitimer has acquired cult-object status, joining a select circle of modern, ultra-functional and timeless objects that made their mark on the 20th century. The Navitimer’s form, spirit and essence have remained unaltered since the first model in 1952, the famous “806”. It is currently the world’s oldest chronograph in uninterrupted production. To celebrate this 50th anniversary Breitling has chosen to issue a special version carrying the original emblem of the era consisting of two stylized planes, the graphic design which Breitling traditionally reserved for this model. The integrity of the Navitimer has been scrupulously respected, notably including the slide rule for which this model became famous and which faithfully replicates the logarithmic scales and graduations of the first models. The chronograph counters are arranged in their original configuration at three, six and nine o’clock and the steel case in entirely satin-brushed.

Breitling Navitimer 1952 Quantieme Perpetuel

50 years of tradition

Caliber: Breitling 29 // Vibrations per hour: 28.800 // Jewels: 38

To mark the 50th anniversary of the Navitimer, the brand’s emblematic moel, Breitling has released a limited series of a Perpetual Calendar chronograph (QP), a Grande Complication instrument composed of close to 500 parts. This mechanical masterpiece indicates the day, date, week, month, season, leap year and moon phase, with no need for adjustment. No less than thirteen hands and pointers are required to display all this information. Reserved for connoisseurs, this exclusive Navitimer QP series has been crafted exclusively in precious metals: 50 in yellow gold, 50 in rose gold and 25 in platinum. Each Perpetual Calendar Navitimer is of course officially chronometer-certified.

Correcting and setting mechanical functions:

Functions other than the time are set by pressing with a slightly blunt point (like a ballpoint tip) on the watch’s recessed correctors as follows:

1.    Moon phases: press corrector D to position the moon in its current phase,
2.    Date: press corrector F and position the hand on digit 1.
3.    Month and year: press corrector G to adjust the month and, if necessary, the year.
4.    Season: press corrector H to bring the season hand to the mark proceeding the current season then adjust the hand as follows:

January      0 press
February    2 presses
March         4 presses
April            0 press
May             2 presses
June           4 presses
July             0 press
August       2 presses
September    4 presses
October          0 presses
November     2 presses
December     4 presses

Breitling Navitimer Heritage, Caliber Breitling 35

Return Flight

Caliber: Breitling 35  // Vibrations per hour: 28.800 // Jewels: 38

The Navitimer Heritage Honors the tradition of the authentic aviation chronograph, originating from the famous Navitimer of the fifties, the brand’s emblematic model. Slightly larger than the original Navitimer, the Heritage version features a bracelet integrated within the case, the first for Breitling. Another special feature of the Navitimer Heritage lies in its Flyback mechanism. An additional function allows successive timing operations while elimination the need to stop, return to zero and restart the chronograph. This characteristic, reserved for the most sophisticated aviation chronographs, was made possible by the development of Breitling Caliber 35. This exclusive self-winding movement is also equipped with “very short time” totalizers, graduated over 10 minutes and 3 hours for perfect read-off of the measured times. Like all Breitling movements, the Flyback Caliber 35 is officially chronometer certified. A graduated scale of the weights and measures used in aviation is engraved on the case back. Theses indications provide complementary data to those calculated using the circular slide rule.
