Bulgari Grande Sonnerie Quantieme Perpetuel

The new perpetual calendar watch from Bulgari

Bulgari has just released a new Grand Complication model, a new addition to the Daniel Roth Collection, the  Bulgari Grande Sonnerie Perpetual Calendar feauring full calendar indications until the year 2100.

The movement of this complicated timepiece is composed of 923 parts, taking a whole year of a master-watchmaker to create it. This exceptional creation is an artistic masterpiece which, according to the most discerning connoisseurs of fine watchmaking, has already earned its place within the selective circle of the 10 most complicated watches ever presented.

The new model presented by Bulgari this year goes a step further and pushes the boundaries of horological complexity by adding a perpetual calendar to the audible musical indications. In the case of the Grande Sonnerie Perpetual Calendar the process leading to its birth stretches over at least a year from the moment the watchmaker receives the rough movement parts.

The Bulgari Grande Sonnerie Perpetual Calendar is therefore equipped with two self-winding barrels: one is dedicated to the usual timekeeping functions of the watch, and the other exclusively serves the striking mechanism and guarantees a full 24-hour power reserve in Grande Sonnerie mode (28 hours in Petite Sonnerie mode, which means the mechanism does not repeat the hours when it strikes the quarters).

The sophisticated Perpetual Calendar developed by the Manufacture Bulgari will operate accurately without any need for adjustment until the year 2100, while taking account of months with 28, 29, 30 and 31 days. At that point, since 2100 will be a leap year, a correction will be necessary to enable the mechanism to once again provide precise calendar information until the year 2200, also a leap year.

This Grande Sonnerie Perpetual Calendar is a one-of-a-kind creation. It is delivered with a sophisticated packaging echoing the design of vinyl record players, and equipped with an integrated watch winding system and a natural amplification of the chime.

Bulgari’s latest addition to the Serpenti Collection

The Serpenti Haute Joaillerie

Bulgari Serpenti

The featured timepieces of the day will go to the three stunning new variations of Bulgari’s iconic Serpenti collection. Paying tribute to the snake-like design of the collection and completely paved in gem stones,  these versions are a true expression of Haute Joaillerie.

Predominantly white and green for the white gold version with diamond and emeralds; slightly more colourful in shades of white, green and mauve for the diamond, emerald & amethyst model, also on white gold; and resolutely multi-coloured for the combination of diamonds, amethysts and pink sapphires on rose gold, the Serpenti Haute Joaillerie is a collection literally dripping with gems of outstanding purity.

The number of stones varies from 763 to 1,009, depending on the version. They are delicately set over the entire underlying structure in white or rose gold. Evoking the scales of a serpent, this sparkling creation is fully paved without diminishing the flowing feel of the watch on the wrist.

The Bulgari Mediterranean Eden Collection

A jewelery timepiece

Bulgari mediterranean eden collection

Inspired by the Mediterranean history and culture, Bulgari designers have come up with the Mediterranean Eden Collection: beautifully designed timepieces resembling a massive piece of jewelery, a collection that positions the brand among the top jewelery makers, as well as watchmakers.

The Mediterranean Eden Collection is available in three different models, of all which display an openworked sliding cover that once opened, it allows to read hours and minutes. The collection three versions are rose gold, white gold and multi-colored model. Watches are a niche which Bulgari take very seriously, so seriously that they have acquired not only the Daniel Roth and Gerald Genta marques but also Cadrans Design, a top notch dial manufacture and Prestige D’or, a company specialising in metal watchstrap construction.

The rose gold version has the cover revealing the warm arabesques of Mediterranean architecture, paved with a pearl. The white gold variation is studded with 4 round brilliant-cut diamonds (0.58 carats), 58 brilliant-cut diamonds (0.45 carats) and 6 pearls. Multi-coloured models boasts a cover, embellished with 3 round brilliant-cut diamonds (0.34 carats) and 132 brilliant-cut diamonds (1.1carats). The impressive composition is enhanced with generously sized coloured stones – amethyst, tourmaline, citrine, peridot and topaz.

In the case of the collection, we are looking at a refined piece of jewelery more that a mere watch. Inside each 40mm case, the quartz movement will keep the wristwatch ticking on the mother of pearl dial of each timepice. Every watch is finished with a carefully designed, sober and stylish black technological satin strap, making the ideal bracelet for an astounding timepiece from Bulgari designers.

Bulgari goes All Black

All Blacks Watch

As announced at the Baseworld earlier this year, the Italian craftsmanship brand Bulgari is now joining forces with the New Zealand Rugby Union and is now presenting an All Blacks Watch. Encased in a rubgy ball shaped box, and with a clear Maori tattoo inspired design, Bulgari presented the Endurer Chronosprint All Blacks Special Edition.

This two-year long partnership looks already promising, and we have statements from either side with their outllooks on the agreement. NZRU CEO Steve Tew said: “We are delighted that Bulgari has come on board as an official partner. They are a truly global company and one of the world’s leading luxury brands, and the All Blacks and Bulgari share similar values – peak performance, excellence and innovation. We look forward to working with the company over the coming years.” And Francesco Trapani, CEO of Bulgari, said: “Working on this exciting partnership with the All Blacks has been extremely enriching for us. We were all very impressed by the deep values of the team and Maori culture that have been a wonderful source of inspiration in the creation of this special-edition watch, which we are all very proud of.”

As it is not all about design, here it comes, the juicy technical info. And don’t miss out checking the impressive presentation on Bulgari’s site! Chick here to watch it!
