Jaeger-LeCoultre to support Reverso ambassador Eduardo Novillo Astrada

The Polo Triple Crown Tournament in Argentina

On the year of the 80th anniversary of the legendary collection Reverso, Jaeger-LeCoultre will pay tribute to its relationship with the world of polo and will support Eduardo Novillo Astrada and the La Aguada team at the Triple Crown Tournament, one of the most awaited polo events of the year.

The Reverso watch has a long tradition and is now a reference in the world of polo, being the first watch to be dedicated to a hobby, with all its elegance and efficiency. The major polo championship in Argentina will be taking place before the end of the year and the famous La Aguada Polo Team will be officially supported by Jaeger-LeCoultre as it became the team’s official sponsor.

Along with saluting its 80th anniversary by introducing new Reversos, the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre supports the most important event in the polo world: the Argentinian “Triple Crown”. The Triple Crown Tournament includes three championships: the Tortugas Open, Hurlingham Open, and Palermo Open, measuring the world’s best polo players. Eduardo Novillo Astrada, Jaeger-LeCoultre global ambassador since 2006, and his team are among the selected favourites to be crowned winners of the champinship.

La Aguada team will have to work hard to proclaim themselves once again winners of “The Triplw Crown”. The team led by the Novillo Astrada brothers won the triple crown in 2003, after winning the Tortugas Open, Hurlingham Open, and Palermo Open in the same season. They became the fourth team in polo history to win the three tournaments in one season. This year they will be officially sponsored by Jaeger-LeCoultre and Standard Bank.

Al Pacino and Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory to the Filmmaker Award

La Biennale di Venezia 68th Venice International Film Festival

Legendary American actor and director Al Pacino is the recipient of the Jaeger-Le Coultre Glory to the Filmmaker 2011 Award, a prize of the Venice International Film Festival (organized by the Biennale di Venezia), created in collaboration with Jaeger-Le Coultre, and dedicated to an artist who has left an original mark on contemporary cinema. The prize has previously been awarded to some of the greatest figures in film including: Takeshi Kitano (2007), Abbas Kiarostami (2008), Agnès Varda (2008), Sylvester Stallone (2009) and Mani Ratnam (2010).

This year, the award celebrates Al Pacino and his achievements as a filmmaker. The awards ceremony took place on Sunday September 4th during the 68th Venice International Film Festival (August 31st – September 10th 2011) directed by Marco Mueller and organized by the Biennale di Venezia chaired by Paolo Baratta. Festival Director, Marco Mueller, describes Pacino as, “An amazing director, whose experience is precious and original, and enriches the world of contemporary film.” The award ceremony preceded the world premiere of Pacino’s third feature-length directorial picture, Wilde Salome. Referred to as his "most personal project ever," the unconventional feature documentary invites audiences into Pacino’s private world, as he explores the complexities of Oscar Wilde’s acclaimed play Salome, Wilde himself and the birth of a rising star, in actress Jessica Chastain.

The director of the festival Marco Mueller invited Jessica Chastain on stage to present the prize to Al Pacino. It was with deep emotion that the actress (a talent discovered by Al Pacino) expressed how honored she was to give the prize to Al Pacino and underlined Jaeger-LeCoultre’s involvement in the world of cinema: "I am proud to present this award to Mr. Pacino on behalf of Jaeger-LeCoultre. Jaeger-LeCoultre's commitment to film is sincere, longstanding and ever increasing with their support of not only the Venice Film Festival but Shanghai as well, working to help recognize both upcoming and confirmed actors, directors and producers. They are delighted to honor Mr Pacino's outstanding contribution to the world of film and to help him celebrate Wild Salome by presenting him with an engraved watch, symbolizing the time dedicated to making art."

Jaeger-Le Coultre is now in its seventh year as a sponsor of the Venice International Film Festival, and in its fifth year as the sponsor of the Glory to the Filmmaker award.

You can follow the festival highlights in real time on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

Jaeger-LeCoultre presented the Global Champions Tour in the Netherlands

August. Valkenswaard, the Netherlands

As part of the three seasons partnership between Jaeger-LeCoultre and the Global Champions Tour (“GCT”), the official partner and time keeper of the series was present at the GCT of the Netherlands, Valkenswaard.
The two brands are well suited as the GCT represents the most prestigious championship in show jumping today, just as Jaeger-LeCoultre is one of the most renowned and high quality watchmakers in the world.

At the prize giving ceremony the brand proudly rewarded a unique timepiece to Beezie Breezes
She is steady, accurate and very focused. She has a great team around her and Saturday the 13th of August it all came together. USA rider Beezie Madden romped off to an emphatic win in the Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Valkenswaard. Beezie claimed the win with a new team horse Cortes "C” that she has only had for a few months.
This is just her second Global Champions Tour start this year and although Beezie has been competing on the Global Champions Tour since 2006, this is her finest result to date.

Beezie took home the cheque for 92.000 euros as well as receiving the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso watch that has been especially engraved for the series.

Jaeger-LeCoultre and Equestrian sports: Birth of the Reverso watch
A long time ago, back in 1931, in a dusty vortex and to the accompaniment of horses’ hooves hammering, an idea was born: a watch with a dial that could protect itself from shocks, all the while offering a personalized engraved case-back. Eighty years later, the Reverso has progressed from watchmaking icon to cult status.

In 30s’ the Reverso was developed specifically to withstand the rough and tumble of chic leisure activities.

Capable of accompanying players’ sporting feats while maintaining its exemplary discretion, its stainless steel case slid in its support and swiveled completely to turn its back on time. The Reverso was born.

Through sports partnerships supported by the brand in many different countries and the announcement of an agreement signed with the world’s finest jumping organization, the longstanding ties between Jaeger-LeCoultre and Equestrian sports are stronger than ever.

Nobility, speed, accuracy and impeccable dexterity are the principles that have consistently inspired the rules of polo, and jumping.

From the entrance arch to the main playground, Jaeger-LeCoultre will be present on the main areas of the competitions. During the events, guests will be welcomed in the VIP area, where they will attend a beautiful spectacular and also discover the latest timepieces from La Grande Maison.

In 2011, to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Reverso, the winner of every tournament will win a Reverso specially engraved by the Manufacture for this occasion.
